PPE100 Development

Landmines: cheap, indiscriminate and lethal. In 2020, at least 7,073 casualties of mines/ERW (Explosive Remnants of War) were recorded: 2,492 people were killed and 4,561 people were injured. As a result, they remain a deadly problem with minefields present in 54 countries around the world.(Landmine Monitor 2020.)

The PPE100 Anti Mine Boot has been re-engineered and re-introduced due to overwhelming customer demand.

The multi-layered composite design reduces the effect of the blast and fragments on the feet and legs which can reduce the injury significantly. Furthermore, the knee length ballistic gaiters prevent flash burns and limit fragment penetration into the lower legs.

Tested against surrogate anti personnel mines. The blast protected sole includes SABREMATTM which dissipates the blast energy, thus diminishing the fragment hazard. This is sacrificed leaving the upper boot intact and the lightweight, composite inner sole unpenetrated.

Customer testing has shown the outstanding effectiveness of the PPE100 with the best protective performance, comfort and usability of any anti-landmine boot on the market for charges up to 56g C4.

CHARACTERISTICS 

• Composite sole shields and reduces the effects of shock and blast over pressure on the foot, which can reduce levels of injury
• Soft, removable gaiters from foot up to the knee, protect against flash burns and fragment penetration
